Ingredients

Serves 6

  • For the Vadas: Urad 3/4 cups

  • Green chilly 2 nos

  • shallot 1 nos

  • Ginger chopped 1/2 tsp

  • Salt 1 tsp

  • Oil for frying 2 cups

  • For sauteing:Onion chopped 1 nos

  • Ginger and garlic chopped 1 tbsp

  • Kashmiri Chilly powder 3/4 tsp

  • Tomato paste 3 tbsp

  • Pepper powder 1 pinch

  • turmeric powder 1/3 tsp

  • Garam Masala 1/2 tsp

  • Curry leaves 2 sprig

  • Chopped coriander leaves 2 tbsp

Directions

    To make the vadas-Soak black gram for 4 hours and strain

  • 02

    Grind into a fine paste without adding water

  • 03

    Add chopped chilly, sliced shallots, minced ginger,salt and mix well

  • 04

    Heat oil in a pan and take small spoon full of batter and drop little by little into the oil

    Try to make small ball vadas

  • 06

    Fry in batches till it is golden brown and set aside

  • 07

    Heat oil in a pan and saute onions, curry leaves,ginger and garlic till golden brown

  • 08

    Add tomato paste, turmeric powder, chilly powder,pepper powder,garam masala and mix

  • 09

    Add the fried vadas and chopped coriander leaves and mix

  • 10

    Serve as a side dish for lemon/coconut rice or as an appetizer
