Ingredients

  • 3 cups Maida (All purpose flour) 2 tsp Yeast 2 tsp Baking powder 3 tbsp Oil 1 tbsp Butter 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Sugar Milk, warm (for binding) Steak filling: 1/2 kg Fillet (chinese cut) 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Blackpepper powder 1 tsp Chilli flakes 1/2 Lemon juice 1 tsp Garlic (pounded) 1 tsp Ginger (pounded) 1/2 tsp Soya sauce 1 tbsp Sugar (optional) 1 tsp Cornflour (mixed in 4 tbsp water) Pickles: 1/2 Cucumber (jullienes) 1/2 Carrot (grated) 1 Onion (slices) 1 Capsicum (jullienes) 1 Green chilli (chopped) 4 tbsp Vinegar Salt (pinch)

Directions

  • 1) Mix buns dry ingredients well add oil and butter then mix well 2) Bind to a soft dough with warm milk, knead well then let it rise 3) Punch back and make twelve balls, then roll each into onlong puri, approx one centimetre thick, when all done 4) Put a piece of foil halfway of puri to end (semicircle), the remaining part of puri bring on top of foil as in you making a semi circle, or just brush with oil all over the puri and fold in half 5) Lay each semi circle puri on greased tray keeping space in between of few centimetres 6) Glaze with beaten egg sprinkle sesame (optional) and let it fully rise 7) Bake in oven on 200°C till nicely browned up on top 😎 Usually bao buns are steamed 9) In a bowl put all veggies together, pour vinegar and salt, mix well and keep aside 10) In a bowl put steak with the rest of ingredients except cornflour mixture, can marinate for three hours earlier 11) In a nonstick pan pour four tablespoon of oil keep high flame 12) Add marinated fillet and fry till browned up 13) Add cornflour mixture and mix well as it tends to form lumps, toss well and remove from flame 14) Fill the buns with fried fillet and pickles
