Boil the cleaned chopped chakka kuru with salt and turmeric powder in water and cook for 10 minutes .then keep aside
Heat coconut oil in a pan and add mustard seeds,dal and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds start to splutter, add dried red chillies
Add finely chopped onion and saute well
Add the chopped cheera and salt into it. Cover it with a lid and cook on a low flame for 3 minutes.
Open the lid and add cooked chakkakuru into it and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes till it gets dry. Switch off the flame.
