Preparation Time :10 Min

Cook Time : 40 Min

Total Time : 50 Min

Ingredients

Serves : 2
  • 250-300g beef mince (15-20% fat)

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1-2 shallots, chopped

  • 4 leaves of lettuce

  • 1/4 cup BBQ spice mix: smoked sea salt, smoked (or regular) garlic granules, onion salt, smoked paprika, paprika, ground coriander seeds, red and white pepper, marjoram

  • 1/2 slice of cabbage "chutney"

  • 2-3 potatoes

  • 1-2 globs of butter

Directions

  • Preaheat the oven to 200C (Fan) Peel potato (if you want), cut into uniform fries, coat with BBQ spice mix. put in the oven for 30-35 minutes and start on the cabbage.
  • Optional cabbage: Boil a cup of water with a small amount of cabbage until the water boils down, then pour apple cider vinegar (not enough to cover) with honey and ancho chili flakes. Simmer/reduce for 40 minutes, keeping the water level low but not burning the cabbage, until thick, sweet and sticky.
  • Pour a touch of balsamic vinegar on the shallots/onions and cook for a few minutes. Mix the burger with the spice mix. Cook on medium-high heat for 15 minutes with the onions and shallots. I like to turn mine only once, about half way through.
