Grilled Green Masala Mackerel Fish

Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 3 large Mackerel fish


  • 1 tbsp Mustard oil


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1/2 tsp chilly powder


  • 1 tbsp salt


  • 1 tbsp lemon juice


  • For Green Masala: 1 cup coriander leaves chopped


  • 10-12 mint leaves


  • 1 inch ginger chopped


  • 6 garlic cloves


  • 6 large green chillies


  • 1 tbsp mustard oil

Directions

  • Take mackerel fish and make slashes on it. Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt, lemon juice, rub the masala well on the fish.
  • Keep the fish marinated while you make the green masala paste.
  • In a blender cup add the coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger, garlic, onion, green chillies and blend them into a fine smooth paste.
  • Transfer the masala in a bowl, add mustard oil and mix well.
  • Apply half of the green masala paste over the fish nicely including the slashes. Let it stand for 5-10 minutes.
  • In a grill pan heat mustard oil. Add the marinated fish in the hot pan in single layer.
  • Cook the fish over medium heat for 5 minutes and flip over the other side.
  • Apply the green masala from the remaining paste over the fish again. Flip over and cook for about 2 minutes.
  • Again apply the green masala the other side, flip over and cook for 2 minutes and take off the heat.
  • Your aromatic mouthwatering green masala fish is ready. Enjoy it as an appetizer/starter or with piping hot rice and dal or rasam.
