Cabbage Roll In Red Gravy

Serves : 4
  • 4 nos for roll stuffing blanched cabbage leaves

  • 2 nos boiled & peeled potatos

  • 1/4 nos diced carrot

  • 1/4 cups chopped green capsicum

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp red chilly powder

  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder

  • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger

  • 1-2 nos finely chopped green chilly

  • 1/8 tsp asafoetodia

  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce

  • 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves

  • 2 tsp oil

  • 1 cups for gravy : tomato puree

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp vinegar

  • 1 tbsp corn starch


  • Firstly ,make corn starch fine paste without any lumps. Keep aside
  • For Stuffing :: Heat oil in a nonstick pan on medium flame. Add cumin seeds and asafoetodia, saute for 30 seconds. Add ginger and green chilly, saute for 30 seconds
  • Add carrot, mix well and cook for a minute. Now add roughly chopped boiled potato. Mix well and cook for a minute. Add cumin powder, turmeric and coriander powder mix well and cook another a minute
  • Add French Beans and cook for a minute and cover with lid on simmer. Open the lid add salt and cook for another 5 minutes and cover with the lid. Now saute and switch off the heat. Stuffing is ready to make cabbage Rolls
  • Take out the stuffing in a plate and cool to room temperature.
  • How To Make Rolls :: Place a blanched cabbage leaf on the surface. Putting spoonful of stuffing mixture on top.
  • Fold & roll tightly. Trim the edges. Apply this Process to make other cabbage Rolls.
  • On medium flame heat butter on a nonstick Tawa , place all cabbage Roll on top.
  • Cook on each side for a minute on simmer till it turns golden brown. Switch off the heat. Cabbage Roll is ready. Keep aside.
  • For Gravy :: Heat oil in a wok on medium flame. Add cumin seeds and asafoetodia, saute for 10 seconds., then add ginger. Saute and mix tomato puree.
  • Stir continuously and cook on simmer till the oil separates from the wok and becomes in mushy form.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilly sauce and vinegar mix well. Now combine red chilly powder, cumin powder in gravey, mix well and cook for 2 minutes
  • Now add 1 glass of water, mix stir continously and cook for another 2 minutes then add butter and corn starch water. Mix well and simmer for a minute. Mix cabbage Roll & Turn off the heat.
  • Now pour the gravy on a serving Platter . Place cabbage Roll on the top and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with any type of bread and rice.
