Ingredients
Serves 2
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp whole wheat flour
2 cup full fat milk
2 tsp salt
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder
1/2 tsp dry mixed herbs
1 cup rava Penne pasta
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup vegetables (onions, green capsicum and carrots cut in julienne)
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp chilli flakes
1/2 tbsp dry mixed herbs
Directions
For white sauce: heat 2 tbsp of butter when it melts add whole wheat flour and roast it until it changes its colour and becomes granular.
Now gradually add milk to this mixture by continuously stirring with the hand whisk, so no lumps are formed.
Now add 1 tsp salt, pepper powder and mixed herbs to it and cook till it becomes a bit thick.
Let the ready white sauce cool a bit.
Boil 5 cups of water and add salt to taste in it.
Add few drops of oil to it.
Now add the rava (semolina) Penne pasta to it and let it cook till al-dante. It will take around 8-9 minutes. Drain the water and keep the pasta aside.
While the pastas are being cooked, in a nonstick pan and remaining butter and oil to it and heat it.
Add the vegetables to it and let them cook a little. They should remain a bit crunchy.
Now add the cooked pasta, chilli flakes and mixed herbs to it and cook for about two minutes .
Now add the white sauce and tomato ketchup to the pan.
If required add some water to make the final contents saucy.
Your very healthy and tasty Penne pasta is ready to serve.
