Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • 6 fish fillets (firm white fish)


  • 2 eggs


  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour (maida)


  • 1-1/2 tsp salt or to taste


  • 1 tsp black pepper powder


  • 1 tsp garlic powder


  • 1 tsp onion powder


  • 1-1/4 tsp Italian mixed herbs


  • 1 tsp creole seasoning


  • Juice of 1 lime


  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs


  • 2 cups oil for deep frying


  • 6 bread rolls


  • 1/2 cup tartar sauce


  • 6 slices of Colby cheese

Directions

  • Cut fish in equal sized square pieces. Wash and drain the fish fillets. Pat dry with kitchen or paper napkins.
  • Apply salt, pepper powder, garlic powder, and onion powder along with lemon juice to the fish and marinate them for 15-20 minutes.
  • In a wide bowl, beat eggs well and keep aside.
  • In another wide bowl, combine flour, herbs, creole seasoning, little salt and pepper.
  • Heat oil in a wide thick bottomed pan.
  • Dip fish in flour, shake off excess. Then dip in eggs and again in flour. Dip again eggs and then in breadcrumbs.
  • Fry the fillets on medium heat till both sides are golden in color.
  • Remove them to a plate covered with paper napkins to drain excess oil.
  • Cut the rolls in half. Warm them in microwave or on hot griddle.
  • Place the cheese slice on one half of roll, too it with fish fillet and spoon little sauce on it. Cover with the other half of roll and serve immediately.
