  • Besan flour 1 cup

  • Rice flour 4 tbsp

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

  • Red chilly powder 1 tbsp

  • Roasted Cumin powder 1 tsp

  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp

  • 1 pinch of Asafoetida

  • Black pepper 1 tsp

  • Oil for kneading the dough 4 tbsp

  • Salt to taste 1 tsp

  • Oil for frying 1/2 Kadai


  • In a large bowl. Add gram flour, rice flour and all the dry masala. Mix .......Add oil and salt. Mix...properly
  • Add little water and knead a smooth dough
  • Grease the murukku mould with oil. Fill the dough till 3/4 th of the mould.
  • Heat oil in kadai. Once the oil is hot. Start pressing murukku mould. So that the murukku falls into preheated oil. Fry in low flame.
  • Deep fry till golden brown in colour. Drain the excess oil in tissue paper. Like wise repeat to finish the dough. Drain in tissue paper and then store in air tight container.
  • Once it is done. Transfer to a serving plate. Garnish with roasted dry red chilly and roasted curry leaves. Crispy murukku ready to serve with hot.... tea
