Moong Dal Carrot Salad

Serves : 3
  • 1) For Salad

  • 1/2 cup Moong dal

  • 1/4 cup grated coconut

  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

  • 1 Green chilli chopped (optional)

  • 1/2 lemon juice

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 carrot Grated

  • 2) For tempering

  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp urad dal

  • 1 pinch of hing

  • 1 tsp oil


  • Firstly soak Moong Dal for half an hour to 1 hour, drain off the excess water in a strainer.
  • Further more leave for some time, so that all water fades away.
  • Now keep aside, grated carrot, coconut, chilli, and half lemon.
  • In a mixing bowl add strained moong dal , carrot, coconut, chilli and coconut mix well.
  • Further more add coriander leaves mix well .
  • Just before serving, add salt , lemon juice mix well.
  • In a small pan heat the oil, and crackle mustard seeds, urad dal fry until it turns red.
  • Next add hing and Curry leaves fry for few more seconds.
  • Add seasoning to the mixed salad and mix it nicely.
  • Finally serve it with plain rice or you can eat plain.
