Ingredients

Serves : 40
  • 250 g frozen chopped spinach / u can take fresh too


  • 250 g white chickpeas ( safed chana )


  • 2 medium sized onions


  • 1 tbs fresh cream


  • 1 teaspoon ginger- garlic paste


  • 3 medium sized tomatoes


  • 1 teaspoon kasoori methi


  • 1 teaspoon turmeric


  • 20 g Asafoetida ( heeng )


  • 1 teaspoon salt


  • 1 teaspoon red chilly powder


  • 1 teaspoon garam masala


  • 1 teaspoon whole coriander seeds


  • 2-3 bay leaves


  • 2-3 green chillies


  • 2-3 red dry chillies


  • 2 tbs desi ghee

Directions

  • Soak white chickpeas overnight else for atleast 6 hours
  • Boil in pressure cooker till they become soft . keep them aside
  • Meanwhile chop fresh spinach ..i have taken frozen chopped spinach and boiled it in pressure cooker till one whistle only. keep them aside..
  • Now for the gravy masala . Chop onions into small pieces ..
  • In a wok , on a medium flame , add ghee ..add jeera and bay leaves
  • Allow them to splutter
  • Now add ginger garlic paste .stir it for a second till its raw smell fades away
  • Add chopped onions and caramalise them .
  • Add tomatoes chopped or its puree into this and saute them till it leaves the ghee
  • Add all spices and salt .mix it thoroughly
  • Add little water and adjust its consistency
  • Add boiled chànas and spinach . Also add green chillies whole .
  • Stir all the ingredients thoroughly
  • Add cream ..Again mix them throughly
  • Adjust its consistency by adding little water
  • Allow it to simmer for sometime and let the aroma of the spices get infused in the chana palak mix ..
  • Sprinkle garam Masala and crushed kasoori methi on it .
  • Your healthy , delicious , proteinaceous dish is ready to serve
