Wash the basmati rice and dal and soak them in some water and keep aside.
In a pressure cooker heat the oil. Add the whole spices and let it crackle.
Add ginger garlic paste, onion, green chillies and saute for a min. Add tomatoes and saute for a min.
Add the masala powders and mix well. Add the chicken, salt to taste, curd and mix well. Cover and cook for about 5-10 mins.
Meantime while cooking the chicken, you can make ready the raita. Take the curd and beat it with a spoon to make it smooth. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, garnish with mint sprig and keep aside.
Now add the soaked rice and dal, chopped coriander leaves, water and pressure cook for 3 whistles and take off the heat.
Let the pressure release by itself. Open and fluff it with a fork and serve with raita. I served it hot with cucumber bell pepper raita.
