Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 3/4 toor dal

  • 1/4 cup Red pumpkin roughly chopped

  • 1/2 banana sliced

  • 1 medium size brinjal

  • 1 medium size potato cubes

  • 1 carrot Chopped

  • 1 tsp punch putana (Mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, black cumin seeds)

  • 4 dried red chillies

  • 1 inch Ginger minced

  • 2 tbsp cumin seeds

  • 2 tbsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp Ghee

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • salt to taste

  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 2 tbsp Grated Coconut

  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

    In a vessel soak the dal for half an hour.

    In another pan roast cumin seeds and dried red chilli till light brown.

    Grind it together and keep aside.

  • 04

    Now take the pressure cooker, add 4 cup water to boil.

  • 05

    Add all chopped vegetables like potato, banana, pumpkin, carrot, and brinjal.

    Cook the vegetables for 10 mins without putting on the whistle.

    Into the boiling vegetables add soaked dal, salt, turmeric powder, minced Ginger mix well.

    Then pressure cook it for 2 whistles . if cooking without a pressure cooker.

    It should be cooked till the dal is completely cooked.

    Heat the ghee in a kadai, crackle the punch putana like fennel seeds, cumim seeds, mustard seeds, black jeera, fenugreek seeds to it.

    Further Add 2 red chillies then add it to the cooked dal and vegetables .

    Now sprinkle roasted cumin and chilli powder on the dal vegetables.

    Lastly add grated coconut and Coriander leaves mix well.

    Finally serve with hot steamed rice.
