Mixed Vegetables Dal Khichdi

  • 3/4 cup Rice

  • 1/4 cup Split Moong Dal

  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp Garam Masala powder

  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds

  • 1 tbsp Ghee

  • 1 tbsp Oil

  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds

  • 6-7 Curry leaves

  • 4-5 dried Red Chillies

  • 1/4 cup Potatoes

  • 1/4 cup Green Peas

  • 1/4 cup Carrots

  • 3-4 slit Green chillies

  • 1/4 cup beetroot

  • 1/4 cup beans


  • Mix rice and dal together, wash under cold water and soak for 1 hour. Now put rice and dal mixture in to pressure cooker.
  • To that add turmeric powder, garam masala Mix well. Now add all vegetables and green chillies. Add salt to taste.
  • Cover and cook until you hear 2 to 3 whistles. After all the pressure goes down, open the lid of pressure cooker and give rice a gentle mix. Now heat up ghee and oil together for a tempering. After that's hot, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and dried red chillies.
  • Also add curry leaves. Mix very well Now pour tempering over Khichdi and give that a good mix. Serve hot with a dollop of ghee on the top!
