Spicy Masoor Dal sesame Sambar

Ingredients

Serves 8

  • 1.1/2 cup Masoor dal

  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds (white or black)

  • 1 large tomato finely chopped

  • 1/2 onion diced

  • 2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste

  • 1 tsp Garam masala

  • 2 tbsp MTR sambar powder

  • salt to taste

  • 3 tbsp Red chilli powder (adjust ur spiciness)

  • 3 tbsp Butter

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 inch cinnamon

  • 3-4 cloves

  • 2-3 black pepper

  • 1 cardamom

  • Few Curry leaves

  • 3 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves

  • 1 dried red chilli broken (optional)

  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • Pinch of hing

  • 1 tsp oil

Directions

    Firstly take the masoor dal wash and soak for half an hour.

    In a pressure cooker add soaked and rinsed dal, 1 tsp oil and pinch of salt, cook for 4 whistles or dal gets smooth.

    heat the some butter in a pan add bay leaf, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, cumin seeds saute well. then add red chilli broken, Ginger-garlic paste, diced onion saute till it becomes aromatic .

    Now add finely chopped tomato and it gets soft n mushy. after cool them completely.

    Now transfer to the blender blend it smooth paste by adding needed water. And keep aside.

    In the same pan dry roast the sesame seeds and make a fine powder. (do not add water)

    Further heat the butter and splutter mustard seeds, Curry leaves and hing. Then add chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and grinded sesame seeds powder mix well.

    Additionally add grinded Masala paste to it. stir continuously on low flame. until it turns thick consistency

    Further more add cooked and whisked dal mix well.

    After add MTR sambar powder, salt to taste and required Water for consistency.

    Boil it for few minutes and add coriander leaves.

    Finally enjoy the spicy masoor dal sesame sambar.
