Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 2 Cups pink masoor dal


  • 2 medium size onion fine chopped


  • 1/2 cup cleaned & chopped coriander


  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste 1 green chili finely chopped 1 teaspoon cumin seeds


  • 1 pinch of asafetida


  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder


  • 1 teaspoon mango powder (optional)


  • 3-4 tbsp Oil for frying


  • 1.5 tsp or little more salt to taste

Directions

  • Wash and soak pink masoor dal for 30 minutes
  • Grind it into paste using min of water Grind ginger n garlic with green chilies into a paste
  • Chop onions finely
  • Heat 2 tablespoon oil in a heavy bottom pan. Add cumin seeds and asafetida.
  • Add chopped onion and fry till onion turn golden brown in color. Add ginger garlic paste Keep stirring
  • Now add the masoor dal paste in the pan, roast over low heat stirring continuously till it turns light brown in colour.
  • Add salt, red chili powder and amchoor powder and mix well Add chopped Coriander leaves
  • Dal is ready when it leaves sides of the pan and all the moisture is evaporated. Let the mixture cool down little bit.
  • Grease a large plate with little oil Evenly spread the dal mixture in the plate with 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Let the mixture set in the fridge for 1-2 hours Once mixture is nicely set, cut into equal shape squares.
  • Take oil for frying in a pan s
  • I have pan fried them one can shallow fry or deep fry too Let the cutlets be crispy & brown from both the side
  • Serve Masoor Dal Cutlet warm with green chutney.
