Ingredients

  • 400 gm mixed dal (after soaking)

  • 2 large onions finely chopped

  • 3 large tomatoes chopped

  • 3 tbsp grated ginger

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic

  • 2 green chilly finely chopped

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

  • 2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder

  • 2 tsp crushed kasoori methi

  • 1 tsp panch phoron

  • 1n1/2 tsp cumin powder

  • 1 tbsp coriander powder

  • 1 tsp curry powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala powder

Directions

    Soak the mixed dal overnight. Clean, wash and pressure cook with turmeric and salt.

    In a wok heat oil. Add bay leaf, hing, panch phoron and splutter them.

    Add chopped onion and cook till translucent.Mix ginger, garlic, chopped tomatoes and adjust the salt.

    Cover and cook in low flame till tomatoes are soft and mushy, and oil is separated.

    Add cumin powder, coriander powder, crushed kasoori methi, curry powder, and garam masala powder. Cook in low flame till oil separates.

    Add cumin powder, coriander powder, crushed kasoori methi, curry powder, and garam masala powder. Cook in low flame till oil separates.

    Mix the boiled mixed dal with cooked masala properly. Adjust the gravy by adding warm water and cook for 2 minutes.

    Mixed dal tadka is ready to serve.
