  • 1. 1/2 cup overnight soaked and boiled moth dal

  • 1 medium size Chopped onion

  • 1 medium size tomato purée

  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste

  • Few Curry leaves

  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds

  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds

  • 1 pinch of asafoetida

  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder

  • 1/4 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala

  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

  • 2 tbsp Butter or coconut oil

  • 1 tbsp Red chilli powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder


  • Take a pan heat the butter until melted or heat coconut oil.
  • Add mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, asafoetida, Curry leaves saute well and splutter them.
  • Now add Ginger garlic paste and finely chopped Onions stir until they turns light golden brown colour.
  • Then add tomato purée and saute till they becomes thick consistency.
  • After add turmeric powder, Garam masala, cumin and Coriander powder , red chilli powder, and salt to taste mix well.
  • Immediately add boiled Moth dals stir well and simmer for 2 mins on low flame.
  • Now off the flame and lastly add chopped coriander leaves to it. Saute it again.
  • Finally serve with chapati, roti or rice.
