  • 1 cup split urad dal

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 1 chopped tomato

  • 2 green chillies chopped

  • 1 pinch of hing

  • 1 tsp of haldi

  • 1 tsp of red chilly

  • 1 tsp of cumin seeds

  • Chopped corriander1 tbsp

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • 1 tbsp salt or as per taste


  • Boil dal ina pressure cooker upto 1 whistle soaking in only this much water so as to soak the dal. Also add haldi powder and salt while boiling.
  • While the dal is boiling, in a kadai add 1 1/2 tbsp of oil and let it heat. Add cumin seeds and as they crackle add chopped onions. Saute till light brown.Add 1 tsp of red chilly to it . Now add tomatoes and green chillies and cook till the oil seprates.
  • Strain the dal . There should be no water in it. Add this dal to the prepared tadka and mix proprely and carefully so as not ti break dal. Add garam masala and chopped corriander to it. Garnish with green chillies and lemon wedges. The dal is ready to be served.
