Wash and soak 1/2 cup horsegram in 2 cups water overnight.
Take soaked horsegram in cooker.Add salt and turmeric.Add 2 cups water.
Pressure cook till 7 to 8 whistles.
When the cooker cools down,mash with a spatula or masher.
Now heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan.
Add mustard seeds,cumin and allow to splutter.
Add asafetida and chilli ginger garlic paste.
Saute for a minute and add finely chopped onions.
Saute for 2 minutes.
Add pureed tomatoes.Saute till cooked properly.
Now add the spices and saute for 30 seconds.
Add the cooked horsegram with water.
Simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.
Garnish with coriander and serve with chapati or rice.
