Pumpkin leaves (saag) with Moong dal

Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 1 bunch of pumpkin (kaddu) leaves (about 150 gm)


  • 1/3 cup fried moong dal


  • 1 tbsp finely chopped onion


  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic


  • 1 tsp finely chopped green chilli


  • 2 tsp milk


  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1 tbsp mustard oil

Directions

  • Soak fried moong dal in water for 1 hour. Chop the kaddu saag finely.
  • Pressure cook the dal and saag with 2 tbsp water to one whistle. Let the pressure release from the cooker.
  • In a pan heat the oil. Splutter mustard seeds. Add chopped garlic and chilli. Fry for 1/2 minute.
  • Mix chopped onion and fry till it softens. Add the boiled saag and dal to the pan. Mix well adjusting the salt.
  • Cook in high flame till all water dries out from the pan. Switch off the gas and mix the milk nicely with the saag.
