Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 4 big potatoes


  • 3 big onions


  • 3 big tomatoes


  • 2 cinnamon stick


  • 4 cloves


  • 5 peppercorns


  • 4 cardamom


  • 1 bay leaf


  • 1 teaspoon shah jeera


  • 1 star anise


  • 4 tbsp oil / ghee / butter


  • 1 tbsp salt


  • 1 tbsp red chilly powder


  • 1 bunch coriander finely chopped


  • 1 tbsp cumin powder


  • 1 tbsp coriander powder


  • 1 tbsp garam masala


  • 1 pinch turmeric powder


  • 1 cup water

Directions

  • Take a pressure cooker and add cubed potatoes, little water and cook till 4 whistles
  • Meanwhile take onions and tomatoes and slice them vertically
  • Now in a pan add oil and add whole garam masala
  • Fry them and add onion, salt and saute till translucent
  • Now add tomatoes and cook till they mushy
  • Take them in a plate and allow to cool to room temperature
  • Now remove whole spices and grind in a mixer to a fine paste
  • Now check for cooker after it release pressure take potatoes and remove peel
  • Now in other pan add oil and add 1 teaspoon of whole masla and fry them, add finely chopped onions and fry them
  • Now add onion tomato paste and fry it till oil oozes out
  • Now add all seasoning that is salt, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala and fry for a min
  • Now add water and adjust gravy consiatency
  • Now add boiled and peeled potatoes and cook for 2min
  • Add water if required at last add coriander and transfer to a bowl and serve with roti
