Zero Oil Chola Dal Pandolis

  • 1 cup split cow peas (chola dal)

  • 1/2 cup spinach leaves chopped

  • 2-3 Green chillies

  • 1 inch Ginger

  • 1 tsp Eno Fruit salt

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 Pinch of hing ( asafoetida)

  • 2 tbsp curd

  • 1 tbsp water


  • Take the mixing bowl add 1 cup of split cow peas, wash thoroughly and soak it for 3 hours and drain well
  • Combine the chola dal , curd, chopped spinach leaves, Green chilli, Ginger, and 1 tbsp of water in a mixer and blend it till smooth.
  • Now transfer the grinded mixture into a deep bowl. Add the asafoetida and salt mix well.
  • Add the fruit salt over the batter and mix it gently.
  • Tie muslin cloth on top of deep vessel, which is half filled with water and heat till the water boils.
  • Now put spoonful of batter on the muslin cloth at regular intervals.
  • Cover the vessel with dome shaped lid. And steam in steamer 5-7 mins after check the cookness.
  • Repeat this process to make pandolis in one more batch.
  • Finally serve immediately with Coconut chutney or Green chutney or as your wish.
