Mix dal(whole moong, whole masur, whole urad, chana dal and rajma)- 1 cup or approx 200 g
Haldi powder- 2 tsp
Cumin powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder- 1 tsp
Red chili powder- 1 tsp
Garam masala powder- 1 tsp
Kitchen king masala- 1 tsp
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Dry red chili- 2
Hing- 1 pinch
Chopped green chili- 1 tsp
Chopped ginger and garlic- 1 tsp each
Chopped onion- 1 medium sized
Chopped tomato- 1 medium sized
Mustard oil- 2-3 tbsp
Desi ghee- 1 tbsp
Dry fenugreek leaves or kasuri methi- 1 tbsp
Salt- as per taste
Chopped coriander leaves- 1 tbsp
Directions
~Process~
*Wash and soak dal for overnight.
*Put dal in pressure cooker with 1 and 1/2 cup of water, 1 tsp haldi powder and 1 tsp salt.
*Put cooker on gas on high flame till 1 whistle.
*Now slow down the flame and cook for 8- 10 minutes and switch off the flame after that.
*Open the lid when pressure of cooker is released.
*Heat 2-3 tbsp mustard oil in a pan.
*When oil starts smoking, add cumin seeds, hing, chopped ginger garlic and chopped green chilies.
*Fry them for few seconds and add chopped onions with 1 tsp haldi powder and salt.
*When onions become light brown, add Chopped tomato and mix well.
*Cover and cook till tomatoes turn soft.
*Now add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and kinchen king masala.
*Cook for few seconds on slow flame and add boiled dal with 1 cup of water.
*Mix well and add 1 tbsp desi ghee and kasuri methi and stir.
*Cover and cook on slow flame for 2 minutes so that the flavours are well absorbed in the dal.
*Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with roti, paratha or naan with lots of green salad.
