  • 1-1/2 cups Chana dal (Bengal Gram Dal) , soaked for 3-4 hours 1 Onion , finely chopped 3 cloves Garlic 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 turmeric powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder 4 Green Chillies , (adjust to taste) 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain (Carom seeds) 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves finely chopped Salt o taste 1 tbsp oil

Directions

  • To begin making Steamed Bafauri Recipe, wash and soak the chana dal for 3 to 4 hours in water. Drain the soaked chana. Transfer drained dal to the jar of a mixer grinder. Add cumin seeds, black pepper, garlic cloves and one 2 green chilli and grind it to a smooth paste and take it out in a bowl. Add the chopped onions, coriander leaves, carom seeds, green chilli, turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, salt, baking powder and mix well. Place a steamer pot on heat and bring the water to a rolling boil. Grease the steamer attachment plate, make small round balls of the prepared mixture and place it on the greased steamer plate.
  • Let the chana dal balls steam for 20 minutes or until the balls are well cooked. Once done, switch off the heat and remove it into a bowl. Serve the Steamed Bafauri along with Dhaniya Pudina Chutney or Khajur Imli Chutney and Chai for an evening snack.
