Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 1cup- Brown rice


  • 1cup- split green gram/Moong Dal


  • 2tbs- Ghee


  • 1tbs- Crushed garlic


  • 1tbs- Grated ginger


  • 1tbs- cumin seeds


  • 1tbs- mustard seeds


  • 8-9 curry leaves


  • 8-9 cashews


  • 4-5 dried red chilies


  • 1tbs- salt


  • 1tbs- black pepper


  • 5cups- water

Directions

  • Soak 1c brown rice in 5cups water
  • Take a pressure cooker and add soaked brown rice with water
  • Add Moong Dal to the pressure cooker and mix well
  • Add 1/2tbs salt and give it a proper mix
  • Cover the cooker with a lid and whistle
  • cook for 10mins(7-8whistles) on medium flame
  • Take a pan and add 2tbs ghee
  • Fry cashews till golden brown and keep a side
  • Add cumin and mustard seeds and fry for a min
  • Add dried red chilies,Ginger garlic paste and fry for another min
  • add curry leaves and mix well
  • Add Rice-Dal mixture and stir well
  • add salt and pepper
  • cover with a lid and cook for 3mins
  • Finally turn off the flame and serve with fried cashews
