Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 1/2 cup toovar dal drained and soaked


  • 1onion finely chopped


  • 1tomato finely chopped


  • 1green chilli finely chopped


  • 1tbsp grated ginger


  • 3dried red chilli


  • 1tbsp red chilli powder


  • 1tbsp coriander powder


  • 7 Curry leaves Salt to taste


  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder


  • 1tbsp ghee


  • 1 bowl Fresh coriander for garnish

Directions

  • Put toovar dal in a non stick pressure cooker, add onion, tomato, green chilli, grated ginger and 2cups water and mix well.
  • Cover and cook on high heat under pressure for 5 mins, reduce to low heat and cook again 5mins.
  • Transfer pressure cooked dal in a non stick pan, add sufficient water and cook on low heat.
  • Add salt, Turmeric powder, coriander powder and mix well and cook till the dal is done.
  • Transfer the prepared dal in a serving bowl.
  • For tempering add ghee in a non stick pan add cumin seeds, garlic, curry leaves, dried chilli, red chilli powder and mix well.
  • Pour the tempering over the dal garnish with coriander and serve.
