Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 1 kg rice soaked overnight


  • 1/2 kg jaggery or 1/2 kg sugar


  • 1 cup ghee


  • 1 cup fried dry coconut peices


  • 1 pinch ilachi powder

Directions

  • Soak rice overnight and pat dry it but not totally dry
  • Now gring this into a powder and make sure the grounded powder is moist enough
  • To maintain the moisture in rice flour(powder) take a wet cloth and cover the flour till it is used
  • Meanwhile take jaggery compound and break into small pieces and add them in a pan
  • Now add water such that jaggery is just immersed but not totally drowned
  • Turn on the flame and prepare jaggery sauce for 10 to 15 min
  • To check for jaggery sauce in a cup add water and take small amount of sauce when you rub with hands sauce should turn into small ball
  • This is simply known as unda paakam (ఉండ పాకం) in telugu
  • After the sauce is ready add ilachi powder
  • Now in a pan add ghee and fry dry coconut peices
  • Now add rice flour to sauce in batches along with coconut peices
  • Finally add ghee on top of the sweet and mix well
  • This can be stored upto 1 week
  • Very healthy for pregnant women and mostly given in seemantham/godbhataayi in andhra
