  • 1 cup moong daal

  • 1 cup rice

  • 1 cup jaggery

  • 3 tsp ghee

  • 6-7 cashew nuts

  • 1 pinch cardamom powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 3 cup water

  • 6-8 dry raisins


  • Soak moong daal and rice in enough water for about 20 minutes.
  • Transfer it to a pressure cooker, add salt, water and cook it until 4 whistles.
  • After 4 whistles are done, open the lead and mix ghee to it.
  • Shallow fry cashew nuts and raisins into 1 tsp ghee till golden brown. Now add mixture of daal and rice to it.
  • In another vessel, mix jaggery to half a cup of Luke warm water and mix it till jaggery dissolve in it.
  • Add this jaggery water to daal-rice and mix properly
  • Cook it for a minute and a, sweet pongal is ready to serve.
