  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

  • 1 tablespoon besan/gram flour

  • 1 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1/2 tsp haldi powder

  • 1 tablespoon kasuri methi

  • 1 tsp salt


  • Soak the kasuri methi in warm water for 5 mins and then strain it.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the wheat flour, besan, salt, chilli powder, haldi and kasuri methi. Knead into a smooth pliable dough by adding enough water .
  • Keep covered and let it rest for 10mins
  • Pinch out lemon sized balls from the dough , dust it well with wheat flour.
  • Roll into thin rotis .
  • Heat a tava and cook the theplas on both sides with enough oil .
  • Serve hot with green chutney , curds or pickle of your choice.
