Ingredients

Serves 6

  • 30 gms unsalted butter

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1½ cups milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • 2 cups all purpose flour (maida)

  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

    Soften butter in a bowl. Add powdered sugar and mix well. Next add eggs one at a time and beat well with a whisk, egg beater or electric beater. Then add vanilla essence, milk and beat well.

    Now take a sieve, add maida, baking soda, corn flour and salt and sieve it directly on the batter. Mix the dry and wet ingredients gently till you get a nice smooth and lump free batter.

    Now preheat the oven for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, grease one large aluminium pan (or 2 small pans ) with butter and then flour with maida. Dust away any excess flour and keep the pan ready. Then add the batter on to the pan till it is half full and place them in the oven. Bake at 170 degree C for 30 to 35 minutes or till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

    Allow the cake to cool down completely, cut and serve or add any frosting of your choice.
