Vegetarian Spring Rolls

Don't fall into the salad, pasta and stir-fry boredom spiral. Here are some great vegetarian recipes to try.

Serves : 8
  • 2 tsp oil

  • 1 inch ginger

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 4 spring onions chopped

  • 1 cup cabbage, thinly shredded

  • 1 carrot, thinly shredded

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 2 tsp chilli sauce

  • 1 tsp soya sauce

  • 1 tsp pepper powder

  • 1/4th tsp salt or to taste

  • 1 tbsp all purpose flour/Maida

  • 8 spring roll pastry sheets

  • 3 tbsp oil


  • In a hot pan, add oil along with ginger and garlic. Cook till raw smell goes away
  • Add in the chopped spring onions, and cook well
  • Add the carrot and cabbage, and saute well
  • Add sugar, chilli sauce, soya sauce, pepper powder and salt (remember Soy sauce has salt). Mix everything well
  • Preheat oven to 320 degrees farenheit
  • take a spring roll sheet and place a spoonful of prepared veggie mix.
  • Pull and fold the bottom of the sheet over the filling and fold in both the sides like an envelope with no air pockets
  • apply maida paste (1tbsp maida +2tbsp water) to seal the edges
  • place the rolls on a baking tray lined with baking sheet. Brush the rolls with oil
  • Bake these for 10-12 min and turn them over. Again bake them for another 8 min or until they turn golden brown
  • Serve hot with tomato sauce or any other Chinese dipping sauce of your choice
