Heat 2 tablespoon oil in a pan.
Add 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds and let be splutter.
Add 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped tomato.
Saute them for 2 minutes.
Now add 1/2 cup red lentil ( dal ) and 1 cup oats .
Add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and salt as per taste.
Saute them for 2 minutes
Now add water as required.
Cover it with lid and cook it for 10 to 12 minutes.
Then open the lid and remove it from gas.
Serve oats dal khichdi.
