Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 250g prawns


  • 1 tsp garlic powder


  • 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste


  • 1 tsp red chili flakes


  • 1 tsp red chili powder


  • 1 tsp coriander powder


  • 1 tsp soy sauce


  • 1/2 tsp vinegar


  • 3 tbsp rice flour 3 tsp breadcrumbs


  • 1-1/2 tsp Salt or to taste


  • 1/4 cup rice flour


  • For balti garam masala—2 tsp coriander seeds


  • 2 tsp fennel seeds


  • 1 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1 tsp black mustard seeds


  • 1/2 tsp cloves


  • 1/2 tsp cardamom seeds of black cardamom


  • 1/2 tsp nigella seeds (kalonji)


  • 3 bay leaves


  • 2 cinnamon sticks broken


  • 2 tsp red chili flakes


  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Directions

  • Dry roast whole spices except chili flakes and nutmeg till aromatic. Add chili flakes and nutmeg for final roasting time. Grind to fine powder.
  • Clean prawns (remove shells and black thread). Wash and drain the water.
  • Apply all the ingredients except rice flour and breadcrumbs. Marinate prawns for at least 30 minutes.
  • Combine rice flour and breadcrumbs. Roll the prawns in breadcrumbs and again dust them with plain rice flour.
  • Shallow or deep fry prawns till golden. Remove to paper towels to drain excess oil.
