  • Potatoes - 8 medium sized

  • Rice flour 1/4 cup

  • Coriander leaves 2tbsps chopped

  • Green chillies 1-2 or to taste

  • Salt -1/4tsp or to taste

  • Sesame seeds 2 tsp

  • Ghee 1/2tsp-

  • 1cup oil; to deep fry


  • -Boil the potatoes till soft.Cool and peel.Chop the coriander leaves and green chilies finely.
  • Make a smooth paste of the coriander leaves and chillies with salt to taste.
  • Mash the potatoes well and knead into a dough adding the coriander paste, rice flour and sesame seeds.
  • Apply little ghee on your palms and roll the dough into a smooth ball. Using the chakli ( star) plate in the chakli maker , press out small rounds (chaklis) on a polythene sheet .
  • Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.Drop the chaklis one by one and fry till golden and crisp.
  • Drain in an absorbent paper and garnish with sesame seeds .Serve hot or at room temperature with curd, salad or dip of choice .
