  • Baby potatoes 10-15

  • Urad dal 1 tablespoon

  • Red chili powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida powder 1/4 th teaspoon

  • Lemon juice 2 teaspoons

  • Salt 1 teaspoon to taste

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Curry leaves 15 to 20

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

    Urad Aloo /उडद आलू Tampting tasty Goan delicacy .. I learnt this recuoe from my Goan neighbor, when I used to stay in Goa. Crisp Baby Potatoes are coated in urad dal powder with spices and tempered with lots of aromatic curry leaves.. let's check out it's tempting recipe step by step.

    Clean urad dal with moist cloth, dry roast in heavy bottom pan, till golden brown in colour , later, allow it to cool completely .

    Now prepare a fine powder of roasted urad dal in mixie

    wash and Peel off baby potatoes, and dip in some water to avoid darkening

    Now, prepare tadka or tempering, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan add mustard seeds , cumin seeds asafoetida powder and lots of curry leaves to it .

    Add roasted urad Dal powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder to tadka and sauté for a while

    Now add baby potatoes and adjust salt according to taste, mix everything well and cook covered for next 5 minutes

    Open the lid and cook uncovered for sometime, mix in between, add lemon juice mix well and serve immediately

    Tasty Urad Aloo is ready , Serve it as starter, snack, side dish or as it is, it tastes superbly yum
