Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 500 gram boiled potatoes


  • 1 cup green peas


  • 4 medium size tomatoes


  • 6-7 green chillis


  • 1/4 cup green coriander


  • 4 tbsp oil


  • 2 tsp cumin seeds


  • 1/4 tsp asafotida


  • 1 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 tsp coriander powder


  • 1 tsp red chilli powder


  • 1 tsp mango powder


  • 1 tsp garam masala


  • 1 tbsp Salt

Directions

  • Firstly finely chop tomatoes and green chillis.
  • In a pan add oil and all the dry spices (except salt and garam masala) and roast well on low flame.
  • Now add the tomatoes and green chillis and roast well untill it starts to release oil.
  • Now add peas and add salt. Mix well. Cover the lid and cook for 5 minutes on low flame so that peas can be soft.
  • Meanwhile peel the potatoes and dice or chop them.
  • After 5 minutes add potatoes and garam masala and mix well. Cook fot 5-10 minutes so that potatoes can absorb spices.
  • After 10 minutes turn off the gas and add green coriander. Mix well and cover for 1 minute.
  • Open the lid and mix well.
  • Aalu matar masala is ready. Serve with roti or paratha.
