Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 2 parboiled potatoes


  • 1 tomato pureed


  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste


  • 1/8 teaspoon hing


  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric


  • 1 teaspoon oil


  • 3 tbsp oil


  • 1/2 teaspoon peppercorn


  • 3-4 dry red chillies broken


  • 2 teaspoon coriander seeds


  • 1/3 cup grated coconut


  • 2-3 cloves


  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds


  • 1 inch cinnamon stick


  • 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste


  • 2 cups water


  • 1/2 teaspoon vinegar


  • 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

Directions

  • heat one teaspoon oil in a pan
  • add poppy seeds cloves cinnamon, red chilli and peppercorns. saute for 2 minutes
  • add onion and grated coconut. saute until coconut turns medium brown. switch off. allow to cool completely
  • Transfer mixture to grinder, add 1/2 cup water , ginger garlic paste. Grind to smooth paste and keep it aside
  • Peel and cube potatoes
  • Heat oil in pressure cooker. Add potatoes and saute for 2 minutes
  • Add ground paste and mix well for 1 minute
  • Now add tomato puree, vinegar, turmeric and hing . Mix well. Cook for 1 minute
  • Add water and salt. Mix well. Bring to boil
  • Pressure cook until potatoes are tender. Since potatoes are already parboiled, it will take lesser time to cook
  • Once steam is released, add coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Serve hot with rice or roti
