Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 1 Cup rice


  • 1/4th Cup Pesara pappu/ Moong daal


  • 1 1/2 cup jaggery


  • 1 Small cup cashew,kismiss


  • 1 Cup ghee/clarified butter


  • 3 Cups water for rice and 1 cup for jaggery syrup


  • 1 Pinch Pachcha karpooram/Edible camphor

Directions

  • Wash rice two times as you do for cooking rice
  • Dry roast pappu/dal in a pan and mix with rice
  • Now add 3 cups of water to this and preassure cook for 5 whistles because this should be so soft not like a regular rice
  • In other bowl add jaggery and add water till jaggery is immersed and place on stove
  • Jaggery starts melting slowly after it is melted completely add this to cooked rice
  • Now add edible camphor and place on stove again for 4 to 5 minutes
  • In a pan add ghee and fry cashew and kismis and add to pongali
  • This tastes better when served 🔥 hot...
