Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • Soya chap sticks 8


  • 2 cup Oil for frying chap


  • For marination- Fresh curd 1/2 Cup


  • Salt to taste or 1/2 tsp


  • Red Chilly Powder 1/2 tsp


  • Garam Masala 1/2 Tsp


  • Bhuna Jeera Powder 1/2 tsp


  • For Gravy 3 Onions Finely Chopped


  • 2 Tomatoes


  • 2 Green Chillies


  • 8 Garlic pods


  • 1 piece ginger


  • Bay leaf 1


  • Green cardamom 2


  • Cloves / Laung 3


  • Black pepper corns 5


  • Oil 2 tblspn


  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste


  • Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder 1 tsp


  • Coriander Powder 2 tsp


  • Water as needed pr 1 cup kasuri methi 1 tsp

Directions

  • Cut soya chap in 2-3 Pieces and deep fry in medium hot oil for 3-4 minutes on low flame.
  • Take the fried chap in a big bowl.
  • Add curd, salt, red chilly powder, garam masala, bhuna jeera and mix well.
  • Keep this for 15 minutes for marination.
  • In a kadhahi heat up 2 tblspn oil.
  • Add bay leaf, laung, green cardamom, black pepper corns and roast for few seconds.
  • Add chopped onions and saute until golden in colour.
  • In a mixer jar add tomatoes, green chillies, ginger, garlic and make a smooth paste.
  • When onion becomes golden in colour add tomato paste and mix well.
  • Add salt to taste and cook for few minutes.
  • Add dry spices and cook untill oil separates.
  • Add marinated chap and mix well.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add water to adjust the gravy and mix well.
  • Cover with the lid and cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes.
  • Open the lid and crushed kasuri methi and garam masala and mix well.
  • Serve with roti, paratha or naan.
  • Soya chap is great source of protein and a very good substitute for those who dont eat nonveg.
