Take a large sized mixing bowl by adding yogurt, turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, tandoori masala powder, lemon zest, lemon juice, green chillies (finely chopped), and mix well. Once the mixture is mixed well, add in the tofu cubes and combine them again. Coat the tofu pieces very well and set it aside to refrigerate for about an hour or overnight.
In a heavy bottomed pan on to a medium low flame, add in oil, once hot add in minced garlic and fry until light golden brown (make sure not to burn the garlic), add green chillies, throw some curry leaves in and add in the chopped onions. Stir well until it turns soft.
Now add in the chopped tomatoes, and salt to taste so that the tomatoes cook early, for a minute or so add in ground spices and and mix well.(ground spices are mentioned in the above ingredient list, roast and grind to fine powder)
Now add in marinated tofu pieces in high flame for about two minutes making sure to stir well. Now close the lid and let cook for about 15 minutes. stir well in the mid so that it gets juicy enough and mix well.
Add water as required quantity
serve this spiced tofu in a bowl with some rice and enjoy your meal with family.
