wash and soak chanadal for20-25minutes
take a cooker heat 1tbsp oil in it add asfoetida and mustard seeds in it
add soaked chana dal in it and saute for few minutes
add green chilli chopped tomatoes in it mix well and cook
add salt turmeric powder and garam masala in it
add 1cup water and close lid of cooker and cook up to 4-5whisltes ,let cooker cools down and release its pressure
mash dal to a coarse texture with masher
heat 1tbsp oil in a tadaka pan add cumin seeds and curry leaves let they crakle remove pan from flame add red chilli powder in it pour this tadka over dal
serve hot with rice or chapati
