Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cup oats


  • 1 cup grated coconut fresh/dried preferably fresh


  • 1 cup sugar/ jaggery


  • 1 tablespoon chopped almond


  • 4 tablespoons ghee


  • 1 pinch ilachi powder (optional)


  • 1 cup milk/water

Directions

  • Place a sauce pan on to the stove and add ghee to it
  • Then add few chopped almonds and saute them
  • Add freshly grated coconut and fry it until it smells good
  • Later add oats and saute for few seconds and add 1 cup of milk and let it boil
  • Instead of milk water can be used but milk tastes better
  • The above mixture turns thick as oats get cooked then add sugar and wait till sugar melts
  • If you want it as a paayasam, after oats get cooked add more milk that is 2-3 cups of milk and let it boil and then add sugar
  • After sugar get melted transfer into serving bowl and garnish it with chopped almonds and serve chill
  • At this stage you can add ilachi powder and then serve chill
  • Oats contain 16.9 gms of protein and can be served in many ways
