Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • Fresh palak or spinach - 250 grams


  • Paneer cubes or cottage cheese - 100-150 grams or as you want


  • Onion - 3 (medium)


  • Tomato - 4-5 (medium) puree


  • Green chilli - 3-4


  • Garlic - 6-7


  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon


  • Bay leaf - 1


  • Cinnamon stick - 1 inch


  • Black cardamom - 2


  • Blackpepper - 7-8


  • Cloves - 3-4


  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon


  • Kasuri methi - 1 teaspoon (optional)


  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 teaspoon


  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon


  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon


  • Salt - 1 teaspoon or as required


  • Ghee/oil - 2 tablespoon or as per needed


  • Water 1/2 cup or as required


  • Cream - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Directions

  • Wash the palak or spinach leaves very well.
  • Boil 3 cups of water in pan and add bay leaf, Cinnamon stick,black cardamom,black pepper and boil for 2 minutes and stir nicely.
  • Now add palak or spinach and boil for a minute.switch off the flame.After 2 minutes drain all water and wash with cold water.
  • Grind it nicely.Don't add bay leaf in grinder.make smooth paste.
  • In other pot add onion,garlic,green chilli and cumin seeds and make fine paste.
  • Heat ghee/oil in pan,add onion paste and saute it for a minute.
  • Add tomato puree ans stir continously,add garam masala,salt,turmeric,red chilli,coriander powder and saute until oil comes out.
  • Then add palak puree and stir continuously for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Add paneer cubes and mix well.
  • Add water as per your needed and mix it well.
  • Simmer for 5 to 6 minutes or more till the palak is cooked and paneer cubes become soft.
  • Last add kasuri methi and cream (optional)
  • Switch off the flame
  • Your Delicious palak paneer is ready to eat.
  • Serve with hot chapatis,phulkas,paratha,naan,makai roti or jeera rice
  • For the amazing colour dont add too much garam masala. Dont over boil the spinach. You can also add fried paneer.
