Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • Mackerel/ Ayala - 1kg


  • Onion - 1 (sliced)


  • Ginger - 1 piece (sliced)


  • Green Chilly - 2 (slit)


  • Curry Leaves - 1 sprig


  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon


  • Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon


  • Tomato - 1(sliced)


  • Salt -2-3 teaspoon to taste


  • Coconut milk - 21/2 cup


  • Vinegar - 2 teaspoon as per required


  • Coconut Oil - 21/2 tablespoon


  • :: For Paste:: Garlic - 2 cloves


  • Cumin seed - 1/4 teaspoon


  • Pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon


  • :: For Frying:: Fish - 1kg


  • Chilly powder - 1 tablespoon


  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon


  • Pepper powder - 1tsp


  • Salt - 1 -2 teaspoon to taste

Directions

  • Marinate the fish in the above-mentioned (for frying) ingredients and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish, keep aside.
  • Grind the masala (garlic, cumin seed & pepper powder) in a grinder to make the paste.
  • Heat oil in a pot, add the above-mentioned paste, onion, ginger, green chilly & curry leaves. Saute till it turns light brown.
  • Add turmeric, coriander powder and saute till raw smell goes off. Next, add coconut milk & mix well.
  • After it starts to boil, add fried fish and tomatoes.
  • Once it starts to boil well, add a spoon of oil used for frying the fish.
  • Next, add some vinegar to taste.
