Biryani also known as biriyani, biriani, birani or briyani, is a mixed rice dish with its origins among the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent. It is popular throughout the Indian subcontinent as well as among the diaspora from the region. It is also popular in other regions such as Iraqi Kurdistan. It is made with Indian spices, rice, meat (chicken, goat, beef, or fish).

Ingredients
Serves : 4
Chicken 1 Kg
Onion (Chopped) 5 Medium Sized
Tomatoes (Chopped) 6 Medium Sized
Garlic Ginger Paste 2 TS
Yogurt 1/2 Kg
Tamarind (Soak in Water for 10 Minutes) 1/2 Cup
Rice (Soak for 30 Minutes) 1 Kg
Coriander (Chopped) 1 Cup
Zaffron 1/2 ts in Milk
Salt as per taste (In Rice 2 TS)
National Biryani Masala 2 Packets
Vinegar 2 ts
Cooking Oil 1 Cup
Lemon (Sliced) 2
Directions
Add 1 packet of biryani masala in yogurt and dip chicken in the paste for 30 minutes
Add chopped onion in 1 cup cooking oil and fry till its color turns to light brown
Add Garlic Ginger paste in onion till its color turns to light brown
Add tomatoes and cover pot with lid to make good paste
Add 1 packet biryani masla in paste and mix and fry well
Add Chicken in mixture and fry well for 20 minutes to cook well
Add Tamarind in chicken and mix well
Boil rice in big pot and drain through cold water
Add rice and chicken layer by layer in big pot
Add Coriander (Chopped), Lemon (Sliced) and Zaffron at top
Cook on very low flame covering with lid for 15 minutes
