Whole Wheat Butter Cookies

  • Whole wheat 1 cup

  • Melted Butter 1/2 cup

  • Powdered Sugar 1/2 cup

  • Milk 4 tbs

  • Sprig vanilla essence 1 tbs

  • Baking powder 1/2 tbs

  • Tutti frutti 4 tbs


  • In a mixing bowl add whole wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, and melted butter. Start mixing all the ingredient until you get a breadcrumb like texture. Add tutti frutti and 4 tbs milk to bind the dough.
  • Cover the dough with cling wrap and keep the dough in the refrigerator for 30 min. Next take it out from the refrigerator and using a rolling pin roll out it into a sheet of a 1/2 inch thickness.
  • Meanwhile, keep idli maker on a gas stove. Add salt to it and spread it evenly. Close the lid and let it heat on medium flame for 15 minutes. Grease all the idli trays. Using a cookie cutter cut cookies out and paste one tutti frutti on the top.
  • Place these cookies on idli plates and place the idli stand inside idli maker. Close the lid and let the cookies bake on slow to medium flame.
  • Bake the cookies for 25- 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes check if its done or not. Allow the cookies to cool down completely.
  • Store the cookies in air tight container to keep cookies fresh and crusty for long duration.
