Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 1 cup Masoor Dal


  • 1 medium size onion chopped


  • 1 medium size tomato chopped


  • 2 green chilli chopped


  • 1 inch ginger chopped


  • 4 cloves garlic minced


  • Kalonji 1 tsp


  • Whole Spices: 1 tbsp cumin seeds


  • 1 bay leaf


  • Asofetida 1/4 tsp


  • Dry Spices: 1 tbsp coriander powder


  • 1/2 tbsp red chilli powder


  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala


  • 1 tsp tumeric powder


  • 1 tbsp oil 1 tbsp ghee


  • 1/2 lime or lemon juice


  • Salt 1/2 tsp


  • Fresh cilantro 1 handfull for garnish


  • 1 tbsp butter

Directions

  • Heat the wok on medium flame. Add Oil, Ghee, Dry spices, saute for few minutes.
  • Add onion, ginger, garlic, saute untill raw smell of garlic is no more, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add tomatoes, green chilli, dry spices, saute for couple of min.
  • Add rinsed and drained Masoor Dal, 2 tbsp of water, salt to taste. Cook for 7-10 min.
  • Adjust seasoning if required. Add butter , lime juice, cilantro. Serve hot.
