  • 1 cups chana dal

  • 1/4 cups masoor dal

  • 1 piece ginger

  • 4-5 nos whole dry red chillies

  • 1 tsp whole dhania

  • 1 nos chopped onion

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cups oil to deep fry


  • Soak all three dals together for 5-6hrs.
  • Take a mixi jar,add ginger,,red chillies ,and whole dhania ,and grind coarseLy.
  • To the above add the dals and grind.(pls note all extra water should be removed while grinding dal or the batter wil be thin.)
  • Remove the batter in a bowl,add salt and beat for two to three mins,add chopped onions ,,ull feel it becomes fluffy.
  • Now heat oil to fry....wet your hands and take batter on your hands as we do for dahi wadas.
  • Make wadas flat in shape and half fry them.(please note do not make them brown ).
  • Make wadas of the batter you have , and let them cool.
  • When you put the batter in oil to fry,,they swell and looks fluffy..this is how we come to know the batter is perfect.
  • Once they are cooled, take each piece and cut them into strips .
  • When you want to serve then,you can deep dry them again ,to golden brown in colour.
  • Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup. Happy Cooking
