  • 1 cups chana dal

  • 2 nos tomatoes

  • 2 nos green chili

  • 2 nos dry red chili

  • 2 tbsp ghee

  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 2-3 tbsp green cariandar

  • 1 pinch asafetida

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/4 tbsp coriander powder

  • 1/4 tsp red chilly powder

  • 1 tsp ginger paste

  • 1/4 tsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp salt,to taste


  • wash the chana dal thoroughly with water then soak them for 3to 4 hours in water later drain out the excess water form them
  • finely chop the tomatoes ad keep them aise.remove the stalk of the green chilies ad cut them lengthwise in to 2 pieces.
  • Heat a pressure cooker,put the soaked chana dal,1.5 cups of water ,salt ad the dal until a whistle is rele ased .then reduce the flame to low ad cook the dal for 5 mins more.later,turn off the flame ad let the pressure escape.
  • Meanwhile,prepare the masala for the dal,for this ,heat a pan with 1 tbsp of ghee.when it melts,add Cumin seeds,asafoetida , remaining,turmeric powder,coriander powder,ginger paste,green chilies ad red chilies in the wok ad saute the masala for a while .keep the saute the flame on low so that the masalA doesn't burn.
  • Then add the tomatoes ad red chiliy powder in the pan.mix everything properly ad cook the masala until the ghee starts par paying from its edges.Adsust the quantity of red chilly powder as per taste
  • After a while,ghee separates from the masala ad the pressure of the cooker will get settled as well.pen the cooker ad add the dal in the masala followed by 1/2 up of water,garam masala ad green coriander,mix thoroughly then cover ad cook the dal for 4 to 6 min on low flame.add water to make desired consistency of dal
  • 5min later dal will be ready .turn off the flame ad transfer it in a bowl. Ready to eat☺☺☺
